Egypt's vision 2030 – conducted by the Center for Future Studies at the Information and Decision Support Center – has set up a number of criteria to assess the extent of achieving the goal of this vision by 2030.
On the top of these criteria is Egypt's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) – known by the organization of rich countries - by the year 2030 given that this cannot be achieved unless Egypt fulfill a minimum level of economic, social and political development. |

By establishing a network of infrastructure, consisting of terrestrial, naval, and aerial routes, the status of Egypt can be consolidated, as a central junction point, between east and west, and between north and south. This can lead also to strengthening Egypt position in the international trade, developing the tourism sector, as well as achieving the domestic development. |

After the center for future studies finalized the general framework of a vision for the future of Egypt 2030, the next step was identifying a number of promising sectors that have promising indications in Egypt.
Choosing those sectors was based on a number of criteria, like extrapolation of global trends of demand, as well as investigating opinions of experts in different fields. Taking into account the consequences that these future trends may have on the conditions and current situation in Egypt and what kind of future effects they may have.
The center identified the fields of renewable energy (specially solar energy ), and pharmaceutical industries using biotechnology and nanotechnology and overseas services, exporting processed food products (specially olive oil ) as promising sectors in Egypt .
The center also concluded that exporting labor surplus could be a supporting factor to the leading sectors, as it will absorb labor surplus in case unemployment still exists. Challenges and opportunities of each sector were identified as well as the main goals Egypt is seeking to achieve by the year 2030.
