August 1, 2030 - New statistics suggest that more than 370 million people worldwide today suffer from diabetes. The numbers have doubled over the last 30 years. Much of this increase has taken place in developed countries, due to ageing, obesity, unhealthy diets, population growth and sedentary lifestyles.

A report issued by the United Nations entitled "Effects of AIDS," showed future expectations of occurrence of about 100 million additional deaths with HIV in African countries by the year 2025.

November 15, 2020 - The number of new cases of cancer this year will exceed 16 million worldwide for the first time. This is an increase with 60% compared to 20 years ago and is due to the growing and aging population, and adoption of unhealthy lifestyles.
Tobacco is still the biggest single source for developing malignant tumors and lung cancer the most common form of cancer. The relative risk for a regular smoker to develop lung cancer compared to a non-smoker is between 20 and 30 times higher.

According to a recent study published in June 2010 by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the emerging economies share in World GDP will surpass that of the advanced economies over the coming years.
